Knowsley Safari gets unlikely boost from Britney Spears

Knowsley Safari has been given a bizarre boost from none other than American singer Britney Spears.

She may live more than 5,000 away in Los Angeles, but the Merseyside park has clearly grabbed the star's attention.

So much so that she shared a video of the lions roaming around near cars on the site, which she captioned 'I’d like to see this on the highway'.

It's not known how the attraction was brought to her attention, but after her shared the video on Instagram, where it's since had more than four million views, the park has seen a noticeable spike in bookings.

And it's a welcome boost for the place, which only reopened from lockdown on Monday.

A spokesperson from Knowsley Safari said: “We believe it to be a very fortuitous social media finding on Britney’s behalf.

"We are thrilled the singer has shared the Safari’s lions with the world and shone a spotlight on these beautiful creatures.”

The singer is known to be a huge fan of big cats.

Her support for Knowsley is quite fitting as the park has just welcomed a new two-metre long Amur tiger, Miron.

The six-year-old is now making his home within the onsite Tiger Trail as part of the Safari’s breeding efforts to help save the endangered species.

For its first three weekends after reopening, Knowsley Safari is operating under extended opening hours until 7pm – last entry at 4.30pm.

To book Knowsley Safari tickets, guests must pre-book a timeslot online.
