Knowsley's only garden centre looks likely to move from its current location to a new premises to make way for a new housing development.
Whitakers Garden Centre could be relocated from its current Liverpool Road site to another location in Prescot as part of plans to built up to 230 'family' homes.
Builders Taylor Wimpey has been meeting with residents ahead of submitting a detailed planning application to Knowsley Council .
Ian Harrison, land & planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West, says: "We are grateful for the thoughts and comments from local people.
"It’s imperative to us that we consider the views of those already residing in the areas in which we’re building.
"This is about much more than bricks and mortar; we want to build a real sense of community, so giving people the opportunity to air their views is essential."
The development would include up to 230 three-to-four-bedroom family homes.
Whitakers has been established for around 100 years and offers a wide range of plants, flowers, furniture, garden buildings and accessories.
The site of Whitakers Garden Centre is allocated for residential development in the Knowsley Local Plan.
Work is expected to start in spring 2020, subject to planning permission.
