Known for Their Iconic Coffee Table Books, Assouline Has Just Launched Decor Objects That Elevate the Everyday Into an Unexpected Art Form

A series of sculpturally designed everyday objects in red, orange, raw wood, gold, and orange, including a Backgammon set, frames, hourglass, and leathery storage units sit on a sand-shaded neutral background.

Every printed matter lover will recognize the coffee table book aesthetic of Prosper and Martine Assouline's namesake luxury brand. Founded in 1994 in Paris, the contagiously inspiring label has preserved its family-run status, and earned itself a reputation as the creator of some of the most visually stunning coffee table books available on the market, with iconic tomes released on pretty much anything from the coolest travel and architecture destinations to the best (and next) in art, design, fashion, and more.

This month, the Maison, which runs a plethora of atmospheric boutique-cum-bar spaces across the world, and in 2015 even launched its very own furniture line, the lavish Assouline Interiors, makes a new hit within the decor world with the release of the Assouline's Library Collection — an artisanally developed, quirky-cool selection of everyday items, including home fragrances, chic games, and objects d'art, that double up as stylish interior additions.

The brand's first-of-its-kind venture into this niche domestic sector, the line was designed to act as "the ideal complement to Assouline's luxury books", nailing the balance between "pieces that are both beautiful and functional". Like in the case of the firm's other releases, every object has been created in compliance "with the highest level of craftsmanship and an exceptional attention to detail," Assouline explained, with the debut drop bringing you extraordinarily assembled bookends, bookstands, trinket boxes, a tray, a frame, an hourglass, a magnifying glass, a candle, and, yes, a design-forward, brass-clad backgammon set. Needless to say, The Library Collection is washed in vibrant hues of red, brown, and camel the house has become known for, making each of the items a timeless, trend-transcending, covetable possession. Take your pick from our ultimate favorites.

Before seeing the Assouline's Library Collection, I had never played a single game of backgammon, let alone considered buying a set. But contemporary interior design is all about unleashing some fun, and the Maison's latest drop isn't the only home accessory line to do so. Enter the Nick Mele's Society Social Gaming Furniture Collection — the surprisingly aesthetic spin on nerdy gaming chairs you didn't know you needed. Well, here you go!
