Knocking Auchinleck Talbot out of Scottish Junior Cup would be shock of all shocks, says Craigmark boss

Ryan Caddis admits Craigmark Burntonians sending Auchinleck to a third straight defeat would be the shock of all shocks.

But that’s what the first-season boss hopes to spring when Talbot head to Dalmellington in the Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday.

‘Mark are chasing promotion as they enjoy a good season while misfiring Auchinleck have crashed to 1-0 defeats against Rob Roy and Kilwinning Rangers in their last two outings.

Caddis admitted: “We know Talbot’s recent form is a blip and they will bounce back but hopefully take a bit longer to do so.

“Talbot are the pinnacle and pretty much call the Scottish Junior Cup their own. Tommy Sloan and his players won’t take us lightly.

“Cups always throw up shocks so why can’t we cause one of our own?”

Meanwhile, Talbot’s secretary Henry Dumigan was named Auchinleck’s citizen of the year.

And looking ahead to the senior Scottish Cup, Talbot are waiting on updates to Scottish Government guidance for large outdoor events as they prepare for their fourth-round tie at home to cinch Premiership side Hearts.
