Knives Out: Daniel Craig’s new murder mystery film to have European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2019

Daniel Craig’s new movie Knives Out is set to have its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.

The murder mystery, written and directed by Rian Johnson, will make its debut at this year's American Express Gala screening on October 8.

Knives Out follows the fallout after a celebrated crime writer, Harlan Thrombrey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his home after celebrating his 85th birthday. Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc is tasked with finding the killer in mysterious circumstances.

Craig, who is also set to star in Bond 25 next year, appears alongside a cast including Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Colette and Katherine Langford.

Whodunit: Craig is on the hunt for a murdered in the new film

Johnson said: "I'm thrilled to be screening Knives Out at the BFI London Film Festival. This film was an attempt to capture the twisty fun of an Agatha Christie whodunit. It's a great pleasure to be showing it in the country responsible for the genre's golden age."

"With Knives Out, Rian Johnson has crafted a devilishly clever and wickedly entertaining new crime caper,” BFI London Film Festival director Tricia Tuttle added.

"Knives Out is a whodunit, as sharp as the blade that killed the patriarch at the heart of the film and we are overjoyed to present the European premiere as our principle partner, American Express's Gala."

The BFI London Film Festival takes place from October 2-13. Knives Out will be released in UK cinemas from November 27.
