Knives, needles, scissors and airgun pellets... everything police found in a park in Salford

Police found knives, needles, scissors and airgun pellets during a sweep of a park in Salford.

The items were found by officers in Langworthy Park - known locally as Chimney Pot Park - on Saturday (February 15).

Police shared a picture of what they had found on social media.

The items included a large kitchen knife and small pen knife, as well as two dirty needles.

Officers also found a large pair of scissors, an airgun pellet tin and a metal bar.

Posting on the GMP Salford Facebook page, police said: "These items were all recovered in Langworthy (Chimney Pot) Park on Saturday during a knife sweep conducted by Salford South East Neighbourhood Policing Team and as a result are no longer in circulation on the streets of Salford.

"You can dispose of knives by placing them in the knife amnesty bin at Swinton Police Station #foreveramnesty."

Secure knife bins are now permanently available at police stations across Greater Manchester, as part of GMP's 'Forever Knife Amnesty' campaign.

Bins were placed at stations within all 10 Greater Manchester districts in September.

Since then, almost 1,000 knives and other bladed weapons have been handed in.

The bins can be accessed at any time of the day or night to allow anyone to deposit a knife safely and anonymously.
