THE Newcastle Knights will face Penrith and Canberra in their first two games after the NRL season resumes on May 28.

LOCKED IN: The Knights will face Penrith in their first game after the NRL season resumes.

The NRL's revamped fixture list has the Knights playing the Panthers in round three on Sunday, May 31, at 4.05pm. Newcastle will then take on Canberra on Sunday, June 7, at 4.05pm.

The venues for both games has not been announced, but there has been speculation the Knights will be playing all their games in Sydney.

Penrith, Canberra and Newcastle were all undefeated in their first two games before the competition was suspended on March 23 because of the coronavirus crisis.

The Panthers will be without halfback Nathan Cleary, who has been suspended by the NRL integrity unit for two games after a much-publicised breach of social-distancing regulations.

The season will re-launch on Thursday, May 28, when the Broncos clash with Parramatta.

The remaining 16 rounds of the season are still to be confirmed.
