Sir Ian McKellen is one of three theatrical knights joining Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith for the starriest zoom call of all.

Also logging on will be Sir Derek Jacobi and Sir Kenneth Branagh as all five take part in a live Q&A raising money for charity.

The event, dubbed For One Knight Only, is being run by Lockdown Theatre in association with Acting for Others which is made up of 14 theatrical charities.

Previous events have included readings of work from Waiting For Godot to Private Lives with stars including Emilia Clarke, Jennifer Saunders and Emma Thompson taking part.

Lockdown Theatre Producer Rob Grant said the show would help the industry “which is suffering so hideously from the restrictions on live entertainment, with no clear end in sight”.

He said: "We enjoy putting the shows on, the cast enjoy performing them, and the audiences enjoy watching. It’s a three-way win.”

The Q&A will take place on Sunday November 29 via Zoom  with tickets available from www.RtfLockdown.com
