Knight shift: NRL gives green light for clubs to return to home grounds

NRL clubs will return to their usual home venues from Round Eight, the Australian Rugby League Commission has confirmed.

The move marks the end of the first phase of the competition's consolidated venue strategy, and will allow the Knights to return to McDonald Jones Stadium from July 2.

The Knights are scheduled to play Manly on Sunday July 5 in round eight at Central Coast Stadium.

Crowds will remain capped in line with state government guidelines, but the move means thousands of fans can welcome the club home in person. .

Chairman Peter V'landys said the decision was a milestone in the return from COVID-19 lockdown.

"This is an outstanding outcome for our clubs, our players and importantly our fans who have been so loyal, and patient, throughout this crisis," he said.

"Our fans are everything and the opportunity to have them back in their home ground stands, is the greatest reward of all for their unwavering passion. I cannot wait to see and hear the return of that tribalism which makes rugby league so special.
