Knifeman jailed after he was found with a 'number of weapons'

A man has been jailed after being found with a number of weapons and damaging a front door.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to a disturbance in Mansfield on October 18.

45-year-old Jason Smith was arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage in Lindley Street.

The force says Smith was armed with a golf club and a sharp tool.

Smith, 45 of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed article and criminal damage after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on October 20.

He was jailed for a total of 146 days.

Police Sergeant Carl Holland said: "This was excellent speedy teamwork by the forces Criminal Investigation Department and Prison Handling teams.

“Nottinghamshire Police takes knife crime very seriously and we will thoroughly investigate any incident reported to the force.
