Detectives are investigating two armed robberies in which a knife-wielding thug wearing a blue surgical facemask threatened staff and fled with cash on each occasion.
At 11.45pm on Saturday, a robber entered the petrol station on Thomas Jones Way off Bridgewater Expressway, in Runcorn, made threats, demanded staff open the till then fled with cash.
Yesterday at 6.40pm, a criminal brandishing a knife burst into the Spar shop in Palacefields, Runcorn, threatened staff with a knife and fled with cash.

In both incidents, the suspect was described as a white man, about 6ft tall and slim.
At the petrol station, the robber was wearing dark clothes and a blue surgical face mask, while at the Spar in Palacefields the culprit was wearing a hoody, tracksuit bottoms, trainers and a blue surgical face mask..
Enquires are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information which may aid their investigation.
Detective Constable Maurizio Lucchesi, of Runcorn Local Policing unit, said: “These incidents are clearly concerning and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible.
“At this time we are keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents are linked and as part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time these incidents occurred and believes they may have witnessed something that may be relevant to our enquiries.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid our investigation.”
