Knife with seven-inch blade found in man's waistband after he ran from police

A huge knife was found in a man's waistband after he attempted to run from police.

Police were searching for a wanted person in the Tonge Fold area in Bolton at around noon on Monday, December 14.

A man spotted officers turning onto Hengist Street and immediately ran away, says Greater Manchester Police's Bolton North neighbourhood team.

Police managed to catch up with the man, then detained him and searched him.

The search turned up a large knife, with an approximately seven-inch blade, concealed in his waistband.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

He remains in custody for questioning.
