Knife-wielding thugs target teen on cycle path and rob him

A teenager has been robbed at knifepoint by a gang of feral yobs who stole his bike.

The 15-year-old lad and his friend were on a cycle path when he was ambushed by the cowardly group, police revealed.

The youths pulled blades on the frightened young victim and  threatened to stab him if he didn’t hand over his bicycle during the incident, which happened around 7.35pm.

Investigating officers say the young victim was unhurt but has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

His bike was recovered by officers after the mindless gang dumped it.

Detectives believe the suspects were older teenagers and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

They also revealed they will be scouring CCTV footage from the area in an effort to identify the culprits as well as quizzing potential witnesses.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 15-year-old boy was on a cycle path near Howwood Railway Station with a friend at around 7.35pm on Tuesday when he was approached by a group of older teenagers.

“Members of the group presented bladed weapons to the teenager and demanded he hand over his bicycle.

“The group then made off.

“This was a clearly a very distressing ordeal for the young victim, who although unhurt has been left very badly shaken.”

She added: “We are appealing to anyone who may have been in area at the time to think back if they saw a group of teenagers.

“There may have been dog walkers or people exercising on the cycle path, who saw what happened or saw the group.

“If you have any information at all then we would like to hear from you.”
