Glasgow sex attack: Woman drugged and raped by knifeman in Bellahouston flat

A sex predator who drugged a woman with a Viagra-type substance and raped her could face a life sentence.

Akif Rehman, 32, preyed on the terrified victim after holding her in his flat in Glasgow's Bellahouston on December 17 2019.

Prosecutors stated he brandished a blade at her and demanded she remove her clothes.

The indictment also said Rehman made her take a pill of the drug Sildenafil as well as cocaine or a similar powder.

He then went on to carry out a horrific sex attack at the flat.

Rehman yesterday appeared for sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow.

He had previously been found guilty of the abduction, assault and rape of the woman.

It emerged Rehman already had a string of sexual offences dating back to when he was a teenager.

He was sentenced to two years in 2005 for the indecent assault of a girl.

In 2015, Rehman was guilty of following women in the street, inappropriately touching one and exposing himself.

Three years later, he was locked up again for pestering teenage girls, asking them to kiss him as well as offering them money and drugs.

As a result, prosecutors moved for a full risk assessment to be carried out on Rehman, which could lead to an Order for Lifelong Restriction being imposed.

Lord Richardson adjourned the case again until October for that to be done.

The judge told Rehman: "You have been convicted of raping the woman after coercing her to enter your flat.

"You used a weapon. She was sexually abused and made to take various drugs. You barely knew her.

"You have three analogous previous convictions for sexual offences and deemed a high risk of re-offending."

Rehman - a dad of two - had denied this latest attack.

Lord Richardson had previous called for pre-sentencing reports to be completed before the hearing yesterday.

Rhonda Anderson, defending, said: "They are not positive in the terms.

"It is not surprising given the stance taken which is he cannot recall events."
