Knife wielding racist stormed takeaway and claimed he had a gun

A knife wielding racist stormed into the kitchen of a takeaway and claimed he had a gun.

Colin Jamieson also stated he was going to shoot Asim Saeed calling him a “p**i b******” in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

Co-accused Declan Linton also hurled a racial slur and punched a microwave in the kitchen of the nearby takeaway.

The pair - aged 22 - pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on April 5, 2019.

Linton admitted a separate charge of assaulting Paul McLean at the nearby Finlay's pub.

The court heard the men were at the bar before going to Chillies takeaway nearby.

Prosecutor Katie Bell said: “Both became aggressive and abusive towards the staff.

“They called members of staff a 'p**i b******' and 'f***ing p**i'.

“The staff tried to calm them down but both made their way behind the counter and into the kitchen.

“Linton punched a microwave damaging the glass while Jamieson picked up a knife and stated to Mr Saeed: 'I have a gun and I’m going to shoot you.”

The men made their way back to the pub before Linton got into an argument with Mr McLean and punched him to the head.

Linton and Jamieson, both of the city's Bridgeton, were later arrested by police.

Michael Poggi, defending Linton, told the court he regrets his conduct and is sorry for his behaviour.

Paul Sweeney, defending Jamieson, stated that he expresses shame and there was no excuse for his actions.

Sheriff Valerie Mays tagged Jamieson for 108 days and Linton for 163 days keeping them indoors between 8.30pm and 7am.

Jamieson was further fined £380.

The sheriff said: “Obviously you have accepted this was shameful and you should be ashamed of the remarks you made to people doing their job.”
