Knife-wielding German policeman 'chases' British tourists crossing road too slowly

Two British tourists have reportedly been chased by an off-duty German police officer brandishing a knife after they were slow to cross a road in the south of Berlin.

The two pedestrians, aged 19 and 24, apparently angered the officer as he was driving in the Neukolln borough of the German capital at around 3.45am local time on Sunday.

According to a statement from the city's chief of police, he then followed the pair before punching the older man in the face and stabbing him in the buttock.

The 24-year-old was also injured in the skirmish and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged. Both men have reportedly returned to the UK.

The off-duty officer claimed the British men attacked him with a knife and that he needed treatment for a cut to his hand.
