Knife-wielding gang smash through windows of home in terrifying burglary

A gang armed with knives smashed through patio windows at a home in Rochdale in a terrifying burglary.

The thieves, believed to be four or five men, burst into the house and demanded valuables from those inside, police said. The 'shocking' incident happened on Louise Street at around 12.30am yesterday morning (Wednesday).

One of the occupants of the house suffered a minor injury to their arm, police added. Detectives now want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage.

Detective Inspector Sam Taylor, of GMP’s Rochdale, division said: "This was a shocking incident and officers are working hard to bring those responsible for justice. We have zero tolerance for these sorts of acts and want to reassure the community that their safety is our number-one priority.

"We have extra patrols in the area and would urge anyone with any questions to chat with the officers, who will be more than happy to talk."
