Knife thug threatened teenager during robbery bid in West Lothian

Police are hunting a man who threatened a teenager with a knife in West Lothian.

The man approached an 18-year-old in Mid Street, Bathgate around 3pm on Thursday.

He brandished a knife and demanded the male teenager hand over his belongings, but the victim refused and ran off towards Hopetoun Street.

Police say the suspect is in his teens, around 5ft 8n tall and had dark blond hair. He wore alight grey Armani EA7 hoody.

Detectives also want to speak to a driver who was on Mid Street at the time.

Detective Constable Jo McCall from West Lothian CID said: “Thankfully the young man was uninjured in this incident, but he has been left understandably very shaken.

"I am eager to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident, and who may have seen any suspicious activity.

"I am particularly keen to trace a motorist on Mid Street who the victim may have approached.

"Equally, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or has any information that can help our investigation, is urged to get in touch."
