Knife thug injures terrified man during street robbery in early hours of the morning

Detectives are hunting a yob who left a man injured after a knife point robbery.

The 33-year-old was attacked the Coltness Drive area of Bellshill at 2am on Thursday morning when the thug stole his wallet, which was later retrieved.

Police say the suspect is in his early 20s, slim with short dark hair and was wearing a light T-shirt.

Detective Constable Lindsey McIntyre said: "This appears to have been an opportunist attack and the man has been left severely shaken and with an injury to his head and face.

"This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and it is vital that we trace the individual responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack, or seen anything out of place, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wishaw CID via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
