Knife recovered as armed police called to fight in north Bristol pub

Armed police were called to a fight at a pub in north Bristol in the early hours of today (December 10).

Police attended The Anchor on Gloucester Road at around 12.20am this morning following a report of an altercation between a small group of men.

Armed officers were deployed due to a report of a weapon being present.

Avon and Somerset Police said an area tour was conducted to locate the individuals involved, with the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

The force said that a knife found near the premises was recovered by officers and that no arrests have been made.

Residents in north Bristol reported 'non-stop' helicopter flights in the area overnight.

Several residents took to social media to report helicopters flying around the north side of the city.

This is the full statement from the police: "Police attended The Anchor, Gloucester Road, Bristol at around 12.20am this morning (Friday 10 December) following a report of an altercation between a small group of men.

"Armed officers were deployed due to a report of a weapon being present.

"An area tour was conducted to locate the individuals involved, with the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

"A knife found near the premises was recovered by officers.

"No arrests have been made at the time of writing. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 5221289501."
