Three men have been arrested following a knife fight that saw a south London rail station shut for over an hour and several trains cancelled.

Officers were called to Streatham Common soon after 11.25am on Sunday, May 17, to reports of a clash involving several men.

Two men in their 20s suffered minor injuries and were hospitalised before being discharged. They have been detained on suspicion of affray.

A third man aged in his 50s is also in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Officers closed Streatham Common station for over an hour while they assessed the crime scene.

Thameslink and Southern services in Central and South London suffered delays for several hours. A number of trains travelling between East Croydon and Clapham Junction stations and Blackfriars were cancelled as a result of the closed station and planned engineering works.

British Transport Police (BTP) is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to assist their investigation.

Anyone who may have relevant information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 202 of 17 May.
