A large armed thug gang tried to stab one person in south Dublin last night in a shocking knife attack incident.
The dangerous gang of eight approached the victim on the canal near the Astro pitch in Bluebell just after 7pm.
The person was held up at knife point as the gang members, who were as old as 20, stole a mobile phone and electric scooter.
A Garda manhunt has been launched by Gardai as a family member of the victim said these type of attacks are happening frequently in the area.
They said: "People need to be extremely vigilant or avoid until the Gardai can get a hold on this situation.
"I’m told it is a regular occurrence up there at the moment. Local Councillor Daithi Doolan was extremely helpful and is going to chase this up with the Gardai as a matter of urgency."
The Ballyfermot-Drimnagh Sinn Fein Councillor spoke to the affected family just hours after the horrible attack.
He said: "I am offering support to the family and assuring them we have contacted senior Gardai about the attack.
"We are demanding that all resources that are available should be used to bring those involved to justice."
