A teenager was arrested after 'asking a plain clothes cop for a light for his cannabis joint' - and was then allegedly found carrying a knife. The 18-year-old was detained after stopping the sergeant in Ashton town centre in Tameside.
After being searched he was found to be allegedly carrying more cannabis and a Stanley knife-type blade. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug and possession of a knife.

GMP Tameside North and East posted on Facebook: "If you are going to ask a member of public for a light, make sure it's not a plain clothes Sgt you're asking and make sure it's not a controlled drug (Cannabis) that you want to smoke. Search conducted under section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
"More cannabis found and a knife. 18yr old male arrested on #AshtonTownCentre for possession of a Class B Drug & possession of a bladed article in a public place. Male currently in custody being interviewed."
