Knife attack horror: Man arrested after woman stabbed multiple times in south London

A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed on a street in south London on Sunday morning.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene on Brighton Road in South Croydon just after 8.30am, where they found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene, where they treated her before rushing her to hospital.

The woman was reported to be in a stable condition and her injuries were not life-changing, police said.

The 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

In photos taken at the scene, two marked police cars can be spotted outside a residential address opposite the South Croydon bus garage.

Around the time police are reported to have arrived at the scene, an onlooker posted on social media site X to report that they saw seven blue-lit police cars and two ambulances.

A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police were called on Sunday, 11 January at 08:37hrs to Brighton Road, Croydon following reports of a stabbing.

“Met officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a woman for multiple stab wounds before taking her to hospital. The woman did not suffer from any life-changing or threatening injuries.

“A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.”

The force has urged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch by calling 101 and referencing CAD1720/11Jan.
