Kristaps Porzingis needed to be helped off the court and into the Knicks' locker room after suffering an injury to his left knee in the second quarter of Tuesday night's game against the Bucks at the Garden.
The Knicks said Porzingis will undergo an MRI of the knee Tuesday night and would not return to the game.
Porzingis threw down an emphatic dunk on Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo and appeared to turn his left ankle on his landing. As he lay on the floor, Porzingis was clutching the back of his knee and punching the court.
After Porzingis was assisted to the locker room, Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry left their seats. The severity of the injury wasn't immediately known, but Porzingis couldn't put any pressure on his left leg.
Porzingis, a first-time All-Star in his third season, is the Knicks' leading scorer, averaging 22.9 points. His 2.4 blocks per game leads the NBA. He has missed seven games this season.
