Klutch Sports signs Matt Morgan, Cornell’s all-time leading scorer

Cornell University senior, Matt Morgan, scored 2,333 career points during his college career, the second-highest total in Ivy League history. He led the conference in scoring for four consecutive seasons and holds school records in total points scored, scoring average, field goals made, field goals attempted and free throws made. On Tuesday, he announced that he will be signing with LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, and Klutch Sports in pursuit of his professional career.

While Morgan does not appear on many mock draft boards, NBADraft.net does have him going No. 57 overall to the Charlotte Hornets. HoopsHype’s Aggregate Mock Draft, meanwhile, has the Cornell prospect slotted as the No. 78 overall player available in the upcoming draft. The next step for Morgan will be to secure an invite to the NBA Draft combine set for May 14-19 in Chicago. If he doesn’t earn an invitation, Morgan can still schedule private workouts with NBA teams individually.

As a proven scorer on the collegiate level, there will be suitors overseas who will most likely express interest in Morgan if he’s not eventually selected by an NBA team in June. Grinding his way through the G-League in hopes of earning a call-up down the road is another option for the North Carolina native. In the meantime, he joins Darius Garland and Darius Bazley as the three members so far signed to Klutch for this upcoming draft with more names to follow in the coming days.
