Kliff Kingsbury worried about Lions signing ex-Cards QB Chad Kanoff to practice squad

It’s a minor blip on the NFL’s transaction log: The Detroit Lions signed QB Chad Kanoff to the practice squad.

But the little ripple made waves for Kanoff’s old team, the Arizona Cardinals. Cards rookie coach Kliff Kingsbury certainly noticed, and he doesn’t sound happy about the prospect of Kanoff revealing his team’s secrets to the Lions ahead of the two teams facing off in Week 1.

In his conference call with the Lions media, Kingsbury was asked how much Kanoff can reveal to the Lions about Arizona’s offensive game plan heading into Sunday’s opener. Kingsbury’s response was blunt.

“Pretty much everything. Whatever he says is exactly what we’re going to run in the game. That’s tough for us.”

Kanoff spent the offseason with the Cardinals but was cut over the weekend. He knows Kingsbury’s offense and play calls and can certainly drop some intel with the Lions coaches on what might be coming. But he also has given Kingsbury something else to worry about as he preps for his first-ever NFL game.
