Kliff Kingsbury to stay with rookies 2 weeks after minicamp

The Arizona Cardinals are close to the end of their offseason schedule. They will conclude organized team activities this week, which ends the voluntary part of the offseason program. Next week, they will hold three days of mandatory minicamp, after which the players are off until training camp.

That is, the veterans are off until training camp. The rookies must stick around a while longer.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury explained to reporters what the plan was after minicamp.

“I’ll be here with the rookies for a couple of more weeks after (minicamp) and just making sure we get as many reps as we can for Kyler as possible and those receivers we are counting on to play,” he said after practice on Monday.

However, he would not reveal his plans beyond that.

“Y’all won’t know where I am at for the next four,” he said.

The rookies will still get time off, but they don’t get as much as the rest of the team, as they have a ton to learn still before training camp begins at the end of July.
