Kliff Kingsbury sees good things from Josh Rosen every time he watches tape

The Arizona Cardinals believe they have a franchise quarterback in Josh Rosen. They have a new head coach in Kliff Kingsbury who is expected to develop him and help him reach his potential.

While there is chatter about Kingsbury’s comments about Kyler Murray from last year and how the Cardinals potentially could draft him first overall and trade Rosen, the reality is that is highly unlikely.

And even if Kingsbury perhaps likes Murray more, he is pleased with what he has in Rosen.

“I’ve always been fascinated with Josh,” the Cardinals coach said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, even noting he has paid attention to him dating back to his days at UCLA.

“The arm talent is extraordinary,” he said. “It’s as good as anyone you will find.

“I thought he showed a lot of mental toughness going through a bunch of different coordinators and continues to get up and continues to fight, and that goes a long way. Every time I have turned on the tape, there’s something you watch that you like and can build with, so that’s exciting for me.”

Obviously, not everything went well for Rosen. He completed a low percentage of his passes. He had more interceptions than touchdowns. The team won only three games.

But Kingsbury’s comments, combined with what was said about Rosen by last year’s coaches, indicates the team is no less confident in his potential than they were a year ago when they drafted him.

For the fans looking for some optimism, this is good news.
