Kliff Kingsbury’s offense similar in concepts to NFL but different in approach

A lot has been made about how different the Arizona Cardinals’ offense will be in 2019 under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was an offensive mastermind at the college level. A disciple of Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense, it is known for being a pass-heavy offense.

What is yet unknown is how it will look in the NFL. However, Kingsbury’s coaches don’t think it will be much of a stretch from what is already done in the NFL.

“Some of the same concepts he ran, they are the same concepts in the NFL,” said passing game coordinator and QB coach Tom Clements, who is the team’s lead offensive assistant, via the team site. “It’s just a different approach — how you get to them, the different things you might do in the run game to combine the run and the pass game and just the style of play.”

Clements is excited to learn a new system.

Anything better than the offense they put on the field in 2018 should be an improvement.

But maybe this new Kinsgbury offense isn’t as radical as it sounds and maybe it will simply be efficient and explosive.
