Kliff Kingsbury predicted in 2018 that Patrick Mahomes would be the highest-paid NFL player

Back in 2018, Patrick Mahomes was getting ready to start what would be a 50-touchdown season, an unbelievable breakout after the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to snag him with the 10th pick of the 2017 NFL draft.

And back then, Kliff Kingsbury was the head coach at Texas Tech, where he had watched Mahomes explode for 93 touchdowns in three seasons.

He knew, before everyone else did, that Mahomes would end up being the highest-paid player in the NFL, something that happened on Monday thanks to the Chiefs’ front office.

Here’s what Kingsbury — now the Arizona Cardinals head coach — had to say to the ThomaHawk Show in 2018:

“I think the sky’s the limit. I got to watch him three years in practice and he just made throw after throw, like, ‘How did he do that?’ I truly believe he’ll be the highest paid player in the history of the game when his contract comes up.”

It’d be one thing to say he’s a future MVP or one of the best. But THAT prediction? Nailed it!
