Kliff Kingsbury not ready to name Kyler Murray starting QB yet

The Arizona Cardinals made quarterback Kyler Murray the first overall pick in the draft last week and traded last year’s first-round pick, quarterback Josh Rosen. It signaled the beginning of a new era with Kliff Kingsbury as coach running a new offense.

While most expect Murray to be the Week 1 starter, that has not yet been determined.

“We’ll see. We’re still working through all those things,” Kingsbury said on the Jim Rome Show. ‘We have Brett Hundley here, who we’re very excited about, but we’ll see where that kind of goes.”

If Murray isn’t the Week 1 starter, it will raise questions. Kingsbury has been on the record on multiple occasions about building the offense around Murray. He has gone on and on about his exceptional skill set.

But he has to respect the process and the players in the building. The team is excited about Hundley, especially with his experience running a spread offense in college. He has worked with Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

He needs to be allowed to compete.

That said, if Murray isn’t the starter when the season begins, it will be disappointing. Even with four years in the league, Hundley is someone Murray should be able to beat out.
