Kliff Kingsbury mostly listened during NFL combine interviews

In new Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s first NFL combine as a coach, it was not he who took the lead. As he has said multiple times since he was hired, he leaned on general manager Steve Keim.

“I did more listening than asking questions,” he revealed on the Kingsbury Chronicle podcast on the Cardinals team site. He explained Keim started things off and team president Michael Bidwill participates, too.

He also explained they put the players through some offensive and defensive information.

He was impressed at the process.

“I feel like the formal interviews were incredible,” he said. “You can gain a lot of information in those 15 minutes about a young man and who they are.”

It is only a part of the draft evaluation process, but if this is true how Kingsbury doesn’t do much in the interviews, the talk of how he is set on Kyler Murray with the first pick overall just doesn’t make sense.

In any case, it is logical for Kingsbury to let Keim run the show in this context, as Kingsbury has never done it.
