Kliff Kingsbury gives statement on Darius Philon situation

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury addressed the media before Saturday’s practice and the first thing he was asked about was the status of defensive end Darius Philon, who was arrested on Friday on charges of aggravated assault.

There wasn’t much for him to say. The Cardinals are in a holding pattern.

“With regards to Darius Philon, obviously we are aware of the situation and the serious allegations,” Kingsbury said. “It’s been reported to the league and so we will allow that process from a legal perspective and a league standpoint to move forward.”

He said he could not comment beyond that. He would not say whether he had been suspended by the team or not.

Philon was not at practice on Saturday and has a court appearance scheduled for August 16.
