Kliff Kingsbury enjoying Texas Tech’s run to Final Four

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury was fired last year by Texas Tech as head coach but that doesn’t stop him from still loving the school. After all, it is his alma mater, so he still is a big fan.

In fact, while it isn’t football, he is enjoying the Red Raiders’ current success in the NCAA Tournament. Before the tournament started, he said he picked Texas Tech to win it all, although it felt like a huge homer pick.

However, he isn’t looking so homerish as Texas Tech has made it to the Final Four.

“We’re fired up, all Red Raiders across the world,” he said on the Kingsbury Chronicle podcast. “That’s a big deal. What a great team to watch, a fun team to watch, how hard they play defensively, it’s as good as I’ve ever seen.”

However, it doesn’t appear he actually filled out a bracket to show off to his friends.

“I’m a huge fan of that university and that basketball coach there, Chris Beard — a great friend.”

He revealed that he doesn’t get together with anyone to watch the games. He watches them alone because he gets nervous.

If Texas Tech can pull off two more victories, it will make Kingsbury look a bit prophetic. And if that happens, hopefully that rubs off on the team as they look ahead to the 2019 season.
