Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t rule out having offensive coordinator in future

The Arizona Cardinals followed the trend of teams in the NFC West by not hiring any particular coach with the title of offensive coordinator. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury is essentially the head of the offense, while Tom Clements will carry out some of the duties of the offensive coordinator, he will be the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

But Kingsbury didn’t rule out an offensive coordinator in the future, but for now he felt it was the best way to organize things.

“I think Year 1 for me, it just made sense to organize it this way,” he told reporters when he introduced his offensive staff. “Get a feel for the staff, the processes and how it’s going to go, and then we can adjust it from there moving forward.”

By not having a true offensive coordinator, Kinsgbury ensures that it will be his offensive system that is put in place. he will welcome input from his assistants but this way he doesn’t send conflicting messages to his players.

And considering the L.A. Rams and San Francisco 49ers also are organized in the same fashion, it appears to be a direction many more teams take.
