Kliff Kingsbury continues to be impressed by Josh Rosen

While Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kinsgbury has wanted Kyler Murray on his team for years, he currently has Josh Rosen to work with, at least until the NFL draft on Thursday.

And while Rosen is on the team, he continues to impress his coach on many levels, whether it is with his preparation, work ethic, attitude or execution.

Kingsbury knows Rosen is in a tough situation with the speculation about his future but likes what he has seen.

“I think Josh has done everything humanly possible to show what type of quarterback he is (and) what type of competitor he is,” Kingsbury told reporters Tuesday after the first practice of voluntary minicamp. “I’ve said it all along — I couldn’t be more impressed with his approach.

“He’s a great player. He was a top-10 pick for a reason. You see it out there, how cerebral he is, how quickly he has picked up our system. I was really impressed with his execution today.”

Earlier in the offseason, Kingsbury has gushed about Rosen’s toughness and his arm talent. In his opinion, Rosen is unfazed by everything.

“He’s a confident young man,” he said. “He asks the right questions, he’s very cerebral and he works at it. I’ve enjoyed working with him.”

Has he spoken with Rosen about the situation? Yes, but he won’t say what was said.

“We’ll keep all of that in house, but I’m just going to keep going back to the way he’s handled it, as far as professionalism, showing up early, doing everything to the nth degree that we’ve asked him, and that’s the sign of a true pro,” he explained. “He’s been phenomenal throughout and today was no different.”

Could it be that Rosen has done enough in a brief audition to turn Kingsbury’s desire of more than five years to coach Murray? That we won’t know for at least another day.
