With the Golden State Warriors in a fight to close out what has been an incredible era of basketball, some rumors have started to surface about what guard Klay Thompson intends to do during the offseason.
Down in Southern California, LeBron James has been struggling to recruit players not just to play with the Lakers, but to star in the sequel to Space Jam — Space Jam II — where he will star in place of Michael Jordan.
While we haven’t heard anything directly from Thompson himself, it appears as if the sharpshooter is going to show off his acting chops and star in the movie alongside James this summer.
The first part of this report makes a bit of sense. Thompson isn’t the biggest star on the Warriors, but he has a cult following for his quirky behavior off the court and in interviews that could play nicely on screen against such a huge personality in James.
The second part of this report seems a bit out of place, however. Everything thus far has indicated that Thompson wants to re-sign with the Warriors as long as they’re offering him a max-contract — and with him missing out on an opportunity for a supermax, it appears as if that it’s even more likely for the Warriors to do so.
The Lakers can absolutely use a shooter like Thompson to play with James to help space the floor. However, the Warriors feel like their run isn’t over with this season despite the team needing to make some big decisions this summer that could break up the core of the team a bit.
But before any of this happens, Thompson and the Warriors must finish a hotly contested NBA Finals series.
