Klay Thompson sends defiant message after Warriors loss to Raptors

The Golden State Warriors suffered a shock defeat to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Multiple members of the team’s core struggled to hit their usual standards, with Stephen Curry scoring just 9 points despite taking 14 shots. He also missed all nine of his 3-point attempts, making it the second time he’s ended a game this season without finding success from the perimeter.

Following the game, Klay Thompson reiterated his confidence that Golden State will figure things out and turn a corner. He sounded defiant as he reminded the world that Golden State has multiple champions on their roster, and one of them is getting ready to return to the rotation after a 14-game absence.

“We got Steph Curry,” Thompson said. “We got myself. Draymond Green is coming back. Chris Paul will be back. We got champions on the roster. And, I will never panic, like I said. I really believe in this team. We still have a ton of basketball left. What’s the point of panicking? We’ve been through incredible highs and some low, lows with this team. So, there’s no point in pointing fingers. All you can do is keep working and believe, and I certainly do believe.”

The Warriors have all the talent necessary to be a contending team on paper. However, injuries, suspensions and players struggling to reach their usual performance levels have hurt Golden State throughout the season’s opening months.

With Green set to return in the coming days and Paul likely to be back in around four-to-six weeks, the Warriors will be hoping they can build some momentum and get their season back on track. As of right now, they don’t look like a roster that’s capable of making a deep playoff push.
