Klay Thompson’s Anta deal makes the Forbes richest shoe deal list

Stephen Curry is the top-ranked Golden State Warriors player on the Forbes “NBA’s Richest Shoe Deals” list courtesy of the $20 million contract he signed with Under Armour in 2013.

He is fourth on the list overall, behind former Warrior Kevin Durant/Nike, $26 million (third), LeBron James/Nike, $32 million (second) and Michael Jordan/Jordan, $130 million (first).

But Curry’s Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, did not go without mention by Forbes.

Thompson started his career as a Nike guy — the most popular brand in the NBA, with just over 62% of the league’s players who have endorsement deals signed to the “Just do it” company, according to Forbes. So, during the 2014-15 season, Thompson signed with Chinese shoemaker, Anta, and inked a 10-year extension in 2017.

His deal with Anta is worth $9 million and his promotional trips to China have become legendary, giving rise to the #ChinaKlay hashtag.

In June 2018, Thompson seemed to enjoy hosting a freestyle contest …

eating noodles …

and getting beat at pop-and-shot.

What hasn’t been reported via mainstream outlets, however, is this angry outburst, #ChinaKlay-style — WARNING: This video contains language that some may find objectionable or offensive. But, overall, Thompson seems like a fun-loving, adventuresome guy.

It is not known yet whether #ChinaKlay 2019 will happen. Currently, Thompson is experiencing #VacayKlay with girlfriend Laura Harrier.
