Klay Thompson offers classic take on if he’s boycotting Drake’s music for the NBA Finals

The Warriors and Raptors are one day away from meeting in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. It’s been a week off that has seemingly taken forever and reached a point where Steph Curry answered a bunch of weird questions about Canada.

On Wednesday, it was Klay Thompson’s turn to weigh in on the series’ most intriguing matchup: The Warriors vs. Drake.

During media availability, the Warriors guard was asked if he had taken steps to remove Drake’s music from his playlists — has he skipped Drake’s songs or removed them completely?

Thompson’s answer was more nuanced, and really, his approach had little to do with Drake’s Raptors fandom.

Thompson said:

“If it’s a bad song, I’ll skip it. But if it’s one of his hits, I’ll play it. I’ve been a Drake fan since I was in high school. He’s a great artist. Do I like him as a Raptors fan? No. But I like him as a musician. He’s extremely talented. But I would definitely skip his song if I don’t like it. If it’s one of his soft, R&B songs, I’m gonna skip it because I’m in kill mode right now. I’m trying to get these four games, so I’ll skip ‘Hotline Bling’ — anything along that line.”

I do like how we went from being like everyone else and skipping song he doesn’t like to … I’M IN KILL MODE, NO “HOTLINE BLING.”

Never change, Klay.
