Klay Thompson is shooting for 80 percent hamstring health prior to Game 3

Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson said he is optimistic about his chances to play in Game 3 of the NBA Finals series with the Toronto Raptors. If “80 percent,” he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic, he’ll go.

For Thompson, 80 percent means being pain-free when maneuvering in ways that affect the injury, telling Slater:

When I have to stop on a dime or make hard cuts, that’s when I feel it the most.

Still listed as questionable, the Warriors’ medical personnel may not decide on Thompson’s availability until shootaround.

He participated in practice on Tuesday, June 4, putting his hamstring to the test:

But he obviously continued to experience enough tightness to require his status remain “day-to-day” and his game availability “questionable.” With a roster depleted by injury and the available players suiting up in battered condition, the Warriors need Thompson on the court more than ever.

If he can’t go, it will be the first missed playoff game of his Warriors career.

Tipoff is at 9:00 p.m. ET from Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., on ABC.
