Kiyan Prince's killer handed new jail sentence after exposing himself to prison staff

The killer of teenage footballer Kiyan Prince has been given a fresh jail sentence after indecently exposing himself to prison staff six times.

Hannad Hasan, now 31, was sentenced to life with a minimum of 13 years after stabbing Kiyan outside his school in 2006.

Hasan first exposed himself in HM Prison Gartree, Leics, in June 2019, at the same time he was awaiting a parole board hearing.

The Somalian refugee did so again in September and November of that year, Leicester crown court heard.

In April and May 2020 he exposed himself three times, including twice in two days.

Hasan was given a further six-month sentence to run concurrently with his life term in December 2020 after pleading guilty to six counts of exposure.

The parole board ruled this week that Hasan was not safe to be released and that “concerns remained about inappropriate behaviour towards staff”.

It added: “After considering the circumstances of his offending, the progress made while in custody and the other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was not satisfied that Mr Hasan was suitable for release.”

Kiyan, 15, who played for QPR’s youth team, was killed after intervening in a tussle between a friend and Hasan.

His father Mark, 52, told the Mirror last month: “When [Hasan] was allowed into our country his mindset was obviously a troubled one because he urinated in front of a teacher, threatened to stab a girl on the bus and eventually stabbed my son in the heart.

“Has he changed? How has that been demonstrated? Has he been a model prisoner? Has he educated himself?

“The public deserves to have these questions answered before the right decision can be made to release him amongst us, or a community somewhere could be in danger.”
