Kitten believed dead after being thrown from moving car

A kitten is thought to be dead after being thrown from a moving car on a busy road.

Posts on social media claim a kitten was thrown out of a car window while it was driving along the A61 near Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Police are currently investigating the mindless act after being made aware of a post circulating on social media about the incident.

They have urged anyone with information to 'refrain from posting unconfirmed registration plates of cars' allegedly involved and instead urge witnesses to contact them in the traditional manner, report Derbyshire Live.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: "We are aware of posts on social media about an allegation that a kitten was thrown from a car on the A61 at Whittington Moor on August 27.

"We would ask people not to share unconfirmed registration plates or types of vehicles allegedly involved as this could place people at risk.

"Instead contact us on 101 if you wish to pass on information to our officers and quote incident 561 of August 28. Inquiries into the report are ongoing."
