Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens got his first look at top draft pick Greedy Williams in a Cleveland uniform on Friday. The coach liked what he saw of the second-round cornerback from LSU in his first day at Browns rookie minicamp.
“He is smooth,” Kitchens said to reporters. “He transitions well from a back paddle and can close on the ball. He is long, of course, and then he competes.”
The players were not in pads and no contact was permitted, which takes away from Williams’ top asset in coverage, his ability to jam and press receivers at the line. Even so, Kitchens seems pleased with his first impression of Williams.
