Kitchen finds: Holiday helps for sweet treats

Dec. 02--Snowflake inspiration

Let it snow lots of confectioners' sugar over little cakes made with a Snowflake Cakelet Pan from Williams-Sonoma. The cast aluminum pan by Nordic Ware has six patterns (no two are alike) and holds about 3 cups of batter. Each cakelet is roughly 3 1/4-inches in diameter. The six-cakelet pan: $36. For a store locator or to buy: williams-sonoma.com.

Meet the muffin people

Invite whimsical tiny folks to your holiday table with help from Siliconezone's Gingerbread Muffin Cups. The nonstick cups are freezer, oven and microwave safe. So bake using a favorite gingerbread or muffin recipe or a cake mix (which we did successfully). Or consider a gelatin-based dessert or make ice cubes. They're nonstick and BPA free. A set of six (three red, three green): $10.08. At amazon.com.

A berry good idea

One of the season's brightest fruits arrives shelf stable and organic as Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce or Jellied Cranberry Sauce from Pacific Foods. We enjoyed the sweet tart cranberry relish (it's sweetened with cane sugar) as a side dish, but expect to incorporate it into recipes (with cheeses, poultry or pork) throughout the holidays. A 15.6-ounce container: $4.39. At supermarkets nationwide. For a store locator: pacificfoods.com.
