Kit Harington checks into rehab after ‘breaking down’ filming Game of Thrones finale

Kit Harington has checked into rehab after admitting he broke down when he filmed his final Game of Thrones scenes.

The actor, 32, who played Jon Snow in the hit HBO series, found filming the finale too much and as a result is believed to have checked into a facility in the US state of Connecticut.

His publicist confirmed the news via a statement that he checked into a "wellness retreat" to work on "personal issues".

In a statement, his representative said: "Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues."

After eight seasons of the epic fantasy show, Game of Thrones recently came to a close to mixed reviews from fans.

A documentary about the show, The Last Watch, was released on Sunday and showed Harington in tears when he learned about his character's fate, which saw him kill on-screen love interest Daenerys Targaryen.

The actor, who is married to his GoT co-star Rose Leslie, also told Esquire in April he broke down after filming Jon's final scenes.

He said: "The final day of shooting, I felt fine... I felt fine... I felt fine... Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit.

"Then they called, 'Wrap!' And I just f***ing broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again."

He later told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Late Show: "I was very shocked and surprised at certain events, and then I blubbed my eyes out. I cried."

Viewers have been divided over the ending of the saga, which also saw Bran Stark become king and Jon banished back to the Wall - despite being the rightful heir to the throne.
