Kit deal could give Man City the edge in chase for Erling Haaland transfer

Sportswear giant Puma are bidding to sign up Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland to a new £50m sponsorship deal - which could give Manchester City a boost in their efforts to sign him.

The German company, who are already the kit sponsors for City and Dortmund, are aiming to lure the Norwegian striker away from his current deal with Nike, the Daily Star reports.

They say that Puma will offer Haaland, 21, a whopping £50million over four years in an effort to lure him away deal two years early.

Such a deal might play into the hands of City, who may be able to leverage those close ties with Puma as part of any potential bid for the £150m-rated attacker.

In addition to the long-term kit deal agreed with the Blues in 2019 - worth an estimated £650m over ten years - Pep Guardiola, Kyle Walker, Ederson and Oleksandr Zinchenko all have individual contracts with Puma.

Whether Haaland linking up with Puma would be enough to persuade him to join City next summer - rather than Manchester United, Chelsea or Real Madrid - remains to be seen.

However, as one of the biggest transfer scraps in history looms large, every club interested in the prolific hitman is searching for any potential edge to help them land him.
