Australian Patrick Kisnorbo has been sacked as Troyes manager after a horror stretch at the French club.

The former Melbourne City coach's axing was announced in a one-sentence statement on Troyes' website.

"The management of ESTAC, in consultation with its shareholder, today notified Patrick Kisnorbo ... of his dismissal," the statement said.

Kisnorbo won just three of 40 games in charge of Esperance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne, known as Troyes.

The Melbourne-born manager was appointed by the City Football Group on November 23 last year as Troyes slipped from France's top flight to the second division.

He was given a two-and-a-half year contract when Troyes were in 13th place in Ligue 1.

But the club was relegated at the end of the season amid a club-record 23-game winless streak.

Kisborno's struggles contined in Ligue 2 this season with just two wins from 15 games to sit 17th in the 20-club competition.

Troyes were also knocked out of the French Cup last week by third division SAS Epinal.

Kisnorbo was the first Australian to be appointed manager of a club in Europe's top five leagues when given the Troyes job.

Last month, Kisnorbo told reporters in France he was trying to make changes at Troyes both on and off the pitch.

"The most important thing for me was to change this place, to be a club where players want to come," he said in early October.

"We have 12, 13 academy players which is fantastic, it shows what we're doing here at Troyes is good things.

"I am worse than everyone else, I want to win more than anyone - remember where I came from, I won everything.

"It's not about that. It's starting something to get there."

Kisnorbo enjoyed a trophy-laden stint with Melbourne City, winning the A-League championship in 2020/21 and also claiming consecutive premierships.
