Yokozuna Kisenosato suffered his first loss at the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament on Friday, losing to No. 2 maegashira Chiyotairyu, who picked up his first victory on Day 6 at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.

After a firm jump-off, the yokozuna struggled to secure a grip of the nimble maegashira, who dodged Kisenosato's charge with a deft side-step before guiding him out of the ring.

Meanwhile, the other two yokozuna improved to 6-0, with Kakuryu making light work of komusubi Tamawashi.

Tamawashi managed to evade the initial charge of Kakuryu, who launched himself at the komusubi with a barrage of thrusts. Kakuryu, though, proved to be too strong for the winless komusubi, who was sent over the bales.

Yokozuna Hakuho survived a scare after being thrown by No. 3 maegashira Shodai.

After a solid jump-off, Hakuho had Shodai at the bales before the maegashira attempted an audacious backward throw that sent both wrestlers crashing down.

The victory was initially given to the maegashira, but the ringside judges conferred and ruled Shodai's left heel had touched the outside of the ring before Hakuho hit the surface. The decision was reversed, keeping the yokozuna's perfect record.

Ozeki Takayasu took control after a thunderous tachiai to convincingly ease No. 1 maegashira Kaisei out of the ring and keep his place in the unbeaten group.

Earlier, sekiwake Mitakeumi (5-1) lost to ozeki Goeido (5-1), who secured a tight grip on the mawashi before easing the ozeki-hopeful over the bales.

No. 9 maegashira Hokutofuji also won to maintain a perfect record.
